The VOICE PRODUCTION 1 WORKSHOP

 Course outline:

During the workshop you will learn to use your voice by doing vocal exercises, with the aim of gaining voice control and breathing control, as well as to master some elements of projection, with focus on using your larynx, facial and other muscles. For this aim be prepared to sing in a group and in rounds, in harmony and, during the day, with Kay, to learn to produce 4 or 5 popular songs together with the rest of the group. You do not have to be able to read music or to be particularly musical. Just build your confidence and see what you can achieve. From the spoken word to well-known songs,the workshop is a learning process.

Kay Standen recently graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), where she trained for 4 years as a singer. During her training, Kay took the opportunity to sing a variety of styles and genres, from early Baroque to contemporary Music Theatre and Pop. Kay has also worked with composers, performing premieres of new works. . As a teacher, Kay has been working with people of all ages for 6 years, leading choirs of up to 90 people, teaching one-to-one and running workshops and small group sessions. Some of her workshops include the "Musical-in-a-week" program, run in schools and youth groups, where the kids work together with Kay to put on a musical in no less that a week. Other workshops range from learning about vocal production and good vocal technique to stagecraft and confidence building with people of all ages.

 The ACTING 1 WORKSHOP

LOCATION:     Malmö Högskola area

Course outline:

Everyone has the potential of being a great actor. The workshop will focus on how to unblock the body and imagination, this workshop will teach you ways to free yourself as an actor as well as some tried and tested tricks of the trade. Participants please wear loose clothing and no jewelry.

 Emmy Abrahamson studied drama at Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and at RADA and was the founder of the International Theatre of Malmö. She has travelled extensively around the world teaching and as the artistic director at theatre festivals in countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Russia and Tanzania. Her background also includes playing the lead in a Dutch feature film as well as directing a sold-out performance of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” with a cast of 25 women in Vienna. In 2011 she published her first book, and has recently signed a contract to publish three more.
